Very nice unit, with expected A. O. Smith quality
I'm a retired HVAC professional and sold, installed and serviced more A. O. Smith water heaters than I can count. This new model has incorporated several things I always felt were missing on earlier generations. The fan has been greatly improved, connections are in all the right places, and it is noticeably quieter than the unit it replaced.

Pays for itself in five years
Installation took about three hours and went very well. After my utility rebate and the federal tax credit my out-of-pocket cost was comparable to a conventional electric tank, and my monthly electric bill dropped immediately. Easily the best home upgrade I've made.

This water heater is a game changer
I finally decided to go all in on a heat pump water heater. Power consumption has been cut by about 75% — absolutely amazing. Plenty of hot water for the whole family and the app makes it easy to track daily usage and switch modes.

Awesomely efficient — and a great dehumidifier
My old water heater used 19 kWh per day; this one averages 3.6 kWh per day on an energy monitor. As a bonus it dehumidifies and cools the basement all summer — the floor used to be visibly damp and now it stays dry.

Ease of install and potential to save you money
Very easy to install: two plumbing connections and three wires, plus the condensation tube to a drain. Water in and out are at the top just like a gas heater, which made the swap simple, and it runs at a level you barely notice from the next room.
